A New Hamster and An Achilles Heal Discovered

Last weekend while we were on a date Jared called in tears telling us that he had found his hamster dead. It was all very pathetic. We don't know why he died. When it was pointed out that maybe "Jared the Detective" could solve "The Case of the Dead Hamster" Jared the Detective said, "Some cases are better left unsolved."

Saturday we went and got him a new one. The first time we bought hamsters at Petsmart I asked what the difference was between the $10 and the $20 hamsters. They told me there was no difference. So we got the $10 hamsters. On Saturday I asked again. This time they told me that the cheap ones bite and are mean. You don't say??? I also added that they hiss (scream?) The lady told me the $20 hamsters are super nice and are breed not to bite. Needless to say I coughed up the extra money.

The family is smitten with the charming little rodent. I even told Alex I wanted one. Sometimes he'll even come to you when you open his cage. Olivia remarked that she hopes hers dies so she can get a nice one.

On Sunday cousins, Erica and Serena came over to our house to meet the new fellow. They held him and loved on him. We took him into the kitchen to show Uncle Matt. As soon as Uncle Matt saw him he was on the kitchen counter! I asked, "Are you up there because of the hamster?" He was pale and said simply, "yes." I tried not to laugh but it was very cute! We found Uncle Matt's Achilles Heal! He can do cartwheels on a roof, but he can't be in the same room as a rodent! We love you Uncle Matt!
