Horse Show

This week was the horse show. What a day! It was also Olivia's birthday. She's been looking forward to this day all year. Horses & birthday, what could be better? (Read the whole post to see how the day really went).

Here she is with Mater Kristen's horse. The plan was to use him for several of the events like Showmanship and then use her own horse Bailey for barrels and pole bending.

Here is Olivia warming up. Her faithful horse teacher/cousin-Kristen looks on.

Here she is during showmanship. The first and main event.

This was after showmanship in another event.

Here she is with Grace, who also did a horse project.

Olivia won Showmanship!
Now the rest of the story... After Olivia finished showmanship she started warming up her horse for the other events. In showmanship she just uses a halter and doesn't ride them. In the warm-up process she got bucked off. Very exciting birthday huh?! She hurt her thumb and was pretty much a wreck. Because she has the parents she does we made her get back on right a way. She went out and got a 7th place amongst tears. She rallied for the next event and earned a second place. By then she was done. It was so hot and she was tired. There were several events still to go however. Then she started vomiting and getting agitated. (She had not hit her head when she fell). We called it a day at that point! We left and she promptly slept the entire afternoon.

She's fine now. She also competed in the Jr. Rodeo on Thursday running barrels and poles. She improved her time in the poles so she was happy. She was still a little skiddish, even though she was on her horse (which I think is way crazier than Mater) this time.

She ended the week of 4-H happy and tired though! Thanks Kristen for another year!
