Olivia did horse (and archery) this year for her 4-H projects. She was able to compete in a Jr. Rodeo during fair week also. We only let her compete in two (which are held on Saturday) during the year as most of the other ones are either too far away or they are held on Sunday.
She did great during the horse show. She won two events, placed well in several others and came close on Showmanship. We had had a problem with one of our mare's that morning and so we had to switch horses and she showed the older one. The mare is slightly lame and drags a foot and so she was docked down to fourth for that. Considering our horse problems the morning of she was pleased to finish as well as she did in Showmanship. She had won Showmanship last year so she was hoping for another good year, but you win some and you loose some. Over all it was a great year. We are gaining experience everyday in learning how to work with horses.
Olivia is looking into taking reigning classes. We will be doing some research but that seems like something worthwhile to pursue.
