Our First Pinewood Derby and having boys (plural)

We survived our first pinewood derby. I've decided I don't like them. Is that bad? There was too much ego with the dads going on. I can't imagine what it must be like to have a boy in high school basketball. At any rate we will have two entries next year with Luke and Jared. Fun Fun. As you can see from the last picture Caleb enjoyed the festivities.
There was a "surprise" late entry. Cousin Erica showed up with her car complete with wings. She had fun racing it with the boys. I realized after I should have taken a picture of her too! I was just happy I even brought the camera.
On a side note earlier this evening I heard the kids playing-typical commando running through the house I going to kill you playing. I heard a big bang and shatter. The cries I heard were the cries of my mom is going to kill me not I'm bleeding and dying. So I finally found them in the the master bath and Jared and Luke were freaking out screaming, "it's your fault" at each other. The sliding door to the shower had shattered into a thousand little tiny pieces. I was just happy they hadn't shattered the glass mirrors. In a finer parenting moment I just laughed and told them it was okay, I wasn't mad. And I wasn't. They looked at me in disbelief sure I was going to blow my stack but I surprised all children in the house. Maybe Alex will blow his stack! We'll have to see. The life of boys... I think the key is that there are more than one. Which is where/when you get into destruction and violence.

Send them my way! they can destroy my house anytime ... I'm really impressed - you did what all the bokks SAY to do, yet it's usually impossible unless one's been sipping a lil' too much NyQuil. Boys are great. (Cuz' I only got ONE)

Yes they are cute... when they're asleep! Right now my husband says we look like "poor white trash" because we have a shower curtain up instead of slidding doors. I told him nobody's going to go into our bathroom anyway...

I guess we will be part of the pinewood derby in future years! I'm glad you survived your first one! Good job for keeping your cool with the shower. I don't know what I would have done, probably screamed.

I'm proud of you Deanna. My car was a replica of the station wagon last time I did the derby.

egos from the dads... that is why George did a pinewood derby for the Elder's Quorum!

The joys I have to look forward to with my boys...
