Annie died today. It was very sad. We are all so glad that we had tried to save her that night she was hit. We have absolutely no regrets.
Once again Sid and Kristen came to the rescue. They dug a hole in their animal grave yard and put her next to their favorite animals. We so appreciate them! They gave us homemade peach cobbler and ice cream too! Kristen said, "When someone dies you give them food right?" We are so blessed to have them as friends and cousins.
Needless to say our Family Home Evening was changed from a regular night to a funeral service and a lesson on Death and the Resurrection. It is so nice to know about the gospel of Jesus Christ. While our kids were sad, they totally understood they would see Annie again. They understand that her spirit and body will come back together and she can live with us in heaven some day. How comforting that is for little kids (and me!).
I'm also thankful for tender mercies from Heavenly Father. Life unfortunately brings the bad along with the good. So I'm thankful for the tender mercies that come at the right time to make the bad not so bitter. The sting not so terrible. One of my character weaknesses is that I have to know everything in advance. If she had been killed that night she was hit it would have been harder for me and our family. But knowing she had been hurt and could still die for the last two weeks helped us be more prepared. So the tender mercy was that we were all prepared and it was okay, and the sting of death was not as painful.
Isn't Heavenly Father just wonderful? How blessed we are to have knowledge of His son Jesus Christ. And thanks also to great and eternal FRIENDS/FAMILY.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have only seen my husband emotional a couple times in our marriage and when his dog was put to sleep was one of them. They really do become members of the family. (As hard as that is for me to admit!) What a joy pets bring to our lives. I love seeing my kids with our Vinny. I wish they could live forever!
I'm sorry for your loss. The Atonement does bring peace, like you said and I too am so greatful for that.
So sad, I am sorry to hear about Annie. She was a good dog. We will be thinking of you.
So sorry to hear that Annie passed away. Glad you guys were a little prepared for it though.
