Wow! It's over. The Celebration took place Saturday night and they did great!! There were over 3,000 youth that participated. The 300 youth from our Stake (area) performed a pioneer dance that included clogging and a spoons solo by the boys. They looked great in their costumes. Which took hours and hours to make! We had a dress rehearsal on Friday and we were at the fair grounds all day Saturday with two dress rehearsals and additional practicing before the grand finale last night. The kids from our ward (town) ended up dancing right in front of the prophet. They said they were nervous. They did so good. Watching them from backstage was exciting and scary all at the same time. When they did the closing number, with all 3,000 kids, last night all the leaders didn't know if we should cry or do the gig that it was finally over. It ended up being way more work that I could possibly fathom. Emotionally it was just as hard, but of course it was all worth it! I'm so glad I was able to be their leader this year when they had this once in a life time opportunity.
When Pres. Monson came in to the arena he drove not 8 feet in front of me in his golf cart! Like a dummy I hadn't even thought to bring a camera. There was just a single line of leaders and he went right by me. Pres Eyring, Elder Cook and Elder Costa went right on by as well. But alas no pictures. By the time I realized I had a phone camera I wasn't smart enough to get it to work quick enough. Oh, well, I have the memories! : )
So looking back at all those near nervous breakdowns leading up to the event it was worth it, and I'd probably do it again, just not this week or next.
This morning the Temple was dedicated and that was of course great. Olivia and Jared were able to go with us so that was even better. Alex starts his temple worker shifts again Tuesday morning. He's excited to be there the very first day it's opened. We are so grateful and excited to have a temple 45 minutes away.

Good job Deanna!!! I'm glad it was a success!!!
They kept talking about how great it was during the broadcast dedication. I'm happy for you that it turned out great and that its over. And that is really neat that you were so close to the prophet and other church leaders!
I'm glad it's over too! You won't take FOREVER at mutal anymore! Yes you will still have mutal but it won't be in other towns on a regular basis!
That is so great that you got too see the prophet so close, is a pity that you couldn't take a picture but hopefully there will be more opportunities.
